Many parents in West London come to us when their baby is unsettled, struggling to feed, or tense after a difficult birth. We assess thoroughly, explain what we find, and start gentle treatment in the same visit.
Why parents come to us
These are the concerns we hear most often from parents in Paddington, Bayswater, and across West London. Every baby is different — we listen first, then assess what's actually going on.
Parents whose babies struggle to latch, feed comfortably, or feed consistently on both sides sometimes come to us wondering whether tension in the jaw, neck, or upper spine is part of the picture. Feeding difficulties are the most common reason babies are brought to chiropractic clinics in the UK.
When nothing settles a baby and the crying goes on for hours, parents are looking for any possible explanation. Some choose to explore whether musculoskeletal discomfort is a factor — we're happy to assess and discuss what we find.
A baby who only settles in one position, or who wakes repeatedly despite everyone's best efforts, may be expressing discomfort in the only way they can. We look at posture, movement, and spinal ease as part of the wider picture.
If your baby consistently turns their head to one side or a flat spot is developing, there may be a postural or movement restriction worth investigating. Chiropractic care is often used alongside NHS tummy-time guidance to support range of movement.
When a baby has a strong preference for one direction — head rotated, tilted, or turned consistently away — there's often a restriction worth assessing. We look for tightness in the neck muscles and upper spine and work gently to improve range of movement.
Parents sometimes bring babies who arch their backs during or after feeds, seem uncomfortable lying flat, or are distressed in ways that don't respond to the usual measures. We assess for any musculoskeletal component and work alongside GP and health visitor guidance.
How we work
The most common question parents ask before booking is whether this is safe for a baby. It is the right question to ask.
The chiropractic adjustments we use for infants — including McTimoney techniques — use extremely light, precise contact. There is no cracking, no thrusting force, and nothing like the techniques associated with adult chiropractic. We also use soft tissue work, gentle mobilisation, and postural assessment, all adapted to your baby's age, size, and tolerance on the day.
Comparable to the lightest touch on a closed eyelid — enough to feel, not enough to cause discomfort.
Or the gentle pressure you'd use to check whether a piece of fruit is ripe.
Your baby stays clothed throughout. You are present and involved at every stage, and nothing happens without your consent.
Your first appointment
The first appointment is around 45–60 minutes. You won't spend it being asked questions and sent home to wait.
You'll complete a detailed intake form before you arrive — we read it properly. We go through anything that has changed or developed since you filled it in, so we're working from a complete, current picture.
We observe your baby's posture, movement, and responses to gentle handling. We assess the spine, neck, cranium, and soft tissues — always following your baby's pace and pausing whenever they need a break.
Before we do anything, we explain what we found and what we'd suggest. You decide whether to go ahead. There is no pressure either way.
If you'd like to go ahead, we start treatment in this appointment — no second visit needed just to begin. We'll agree a plan together and keep you updated at each visit.
No GP referral needed — you can contact us directly. If at any point we think your baby's needs are better met by another professional, we'll say so and help you get there.
"Ben is an excellent chiropractor. Professional, knowledgeable, and caring. I felt better after just one visit and highly recommend his services."

What to expect
Every baby responds differently. Here's a general picture of how treatment tends to progress.
Assessment, a clear conversation about findings, and first treatment in the same appointment. Most parents leave with a much clearer picture of what's going on.
Some babies respond quickly; others take a few sessions. We track progress at each visit and adjust the plan — we're not working to a fixed script.
Once improvement is established, most babies need only occasional check-ins as they grow. We'll tell you if we think you'd be better placed elsewhere.
Safety & evidence
The safety record for infant chiropractic care is reassuring. The techniques used for babies are among the gentlest in manual therapy — there is no force, no thrust, and no manipulation of the kind people associate with adult care.
The most commonly reported reaction is brief increased fussiness lasting less than 24 hours, and we'll always tell you to watch for this before you leave. A 2019 UK study of 498 infants found 86% of parents reported improvement, with satisfaction scores of 9.5 out of 10.
The research on specific conditions is still developing, and we're transparent about that. What we can tell you is that a thorough assessment rarely leaves parents without a clearer picture — whatever the outcome.
Chiropractic care works alongside your GP and health visitor, not instead of them. We refer on whenever that's the right call.
When to act
Babies can't tell us what's wrong. If any of the following feel familiar, an early assessment is worth considering.
